Recognizing Negative Emotions
It is a good thing to try to make lists of negative emotions for yourselves. In these lists you must include various states of depression, various kinds of self-pity, various kinds of persisting resentment, of feeling badly treated, and you must also include many kinds of hatred, many unpleasant forms of self-satisfaction and contempt of others, and especially must you include the feeling of meritoriousness, one of the most unclean of all the emotions and one which perhaps shuts out all influences from Higher Centers more than any other emotion. The purification of the Emotional Center is especially emphasized in this Work.
